Sleep Psychologist Rhode Island
Are you wide awake at 3am...even though you're exhausted?
Your kids are all asleep.
The house is quiet.
And your brain turns ON:
-
Everything you didn't finish today
-
Everything tomorrow holds
-
Trying harder to go back to sleep
No wonder you're exhausted during the day.
You've probably reached for a supplement, like sleep gummies or magnesium.
And they act like a band-aid, but don't actually get the cause of your sleep problems.

Why can't I fall asleep, even though I'm exhausted?
Sleep problems can develop at any time in your life--especially during major transitions.
Motherhood and being a woman is full of many changes that can cause sleep problems. Hormone changes, such as pregnancy, perimenopause, and menopause all impact our sleep.
Our life patterns and schedules shift too, whether it be the baby finally sleeping through the night (but we're wide awake, anxiously waiting for them to wake up), early morning school schedules, busy & stressful work weeks, late night sports practices, an empty house; every phase of life changes everything. The stress, anxiety, the shifts in routine, can all cause us to have disrupted sleep.
As a sleep psychologist I always first learn about your unique sleep, so that we can figure out exactly how to make good sleep fit in your life.
What does working with a sleep psychologist in Rhode Island look like?
Expert sleep help Rhode Island
I always start with a thorough assessment, because everyone's sleep deserves to be listened to. We then make a personalized plan utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) techniques to get you quality sleep. If you have CBT for insomnia is a treatment backed by years of research with thousands of women who are just like you. It’s unique, aka not your basic sleep tips you’ve read 1000 times. It works fast, in 4-8 appointments usually. It can help women with pain, stress, hot flashes, anxiety, trauma, who are pregnant, you name it, get better sleep. Many moms I've worked with find once their sleep improves, their mood, anxiety, stress gets a lot easier to deal with because they are better rested.
I work with women in all stages of life get really good quality sleep.

FAQs for working with a Rhode Island Sleep Psychologist
3. How much do appointments cost?
$200
I do have reserved space for sliding scale payments. I typically hold these spots for mothers who are first responders or are in civil service, please reach out to discuss further.
Pricing for Phone/other brief follow-ups can be discussed as needed.
Bariatric surgery pre-evaluation: $500 (includes all necessary assessments and same week turn-around for all necessary paperwork)
Workshops are priced based on individual needs, please reach out for an estimate.
4. How long are appointments?
My standard appointments are ~50 minutes. I do offer brief check-ins (15-30 minutes) as needed, usually to help with accountability and maintaining progress.
5. Where do appointments take place?
All appointments take place through a secure telehealth platform. You must be physically located in Rhode Island or Pennsylvania. I find it is incredibly beneficial to work on these parts of our everyday life in a way that fits into our everyday life. This can mean an appointment in your car, at night after kid bedtime...we'll find a way to make it accessible to you.
6. What ages do you work with?
I work with individuals 18 years and older living in Rhode Island and Pennsylvania.
7. What types of interventions do you use?
I am an expert in focused, behavioral interventions. What that translates to is realistic, supportive accountability using evidence-backed techniques. For insomnia, I deliver CBT for insomnia, a 6-8 appointment treatment that is the #1 recommended treatment for insomnia (that works better in the long term than medications). For eating and weight-related issues, I deliver CBT for eating disorders or behavioral/acceptance-based treatments for eating and weight management. For motivation and stress management, I use behavioral, cognitive, acceptance and mindfulness techniques. At the end of the first appointment, I make sure to personalize a treatment plan for you, based on the science and my expertise.
8. When are you available to meet?
I am typically available in the afternoons and evenings and can work to find a time that works for you.
9. What does the first appointment look like?
I'll ask a variety of questions to learn about what you are having difficulty with. At the end of the first appointment, we'll establish goals and set up a next appointment. If at the end of the first appointment we discuss that we aren't a good fit to work together, I will help you figure out what the next best step is.
1. Do you take insurance?
While I do not take insurance at this time, many health insurances provide reimbursement for out-of-network providers. I work with a HIPPA-compliant service that can submit all paperwork and front your reimbursement, reducing your out of pockets costs before reimbursement. I can check your out of networks benefits on our free consultation call. You can also use an HSA/FSA card to pay or elect not to use insurance.
2. What are the benefits of working with a psychologist who doesn't take insurance up front?
Insurance can drive how many appointments you have and requires a diagnosis. This can restrict the work we do together, instead of letting us focus on what matters to you. By working outside of insurance I can customize the length of appointments, what we focus on, and help you reach your goals.
